If you skip the court date, they win by default. That’s probably what happened here.
Something doesn’t add up here. In Colorado, garnishment is based on 20% of disposable income or anything above 40x the minimum wage. Are they calculating this correctly?
Was the medical debt from a hospital? Some hospitals, especially religious ones, have charity care programs that can write off your debt. Look into it if you haven’t already.
