Exactly. They’ll probably teach a class or two, get a few department emails, and maybe show up at events. It’s really not worth the stress.

If I were running the department, here’s what I’d do:

  1. Give them no classes
  2. Dump all the worst classes on them
  3. Schedule everything at weird times—like 8am Mondays and 4pm Fridays.

Let’s see how long they last.
