Finally, after a long year, I paid off $56K and I’m not going back to credit cards. Living with my parents helped, but it was still tough. Just wanted to share.
Congrats! You did an amazing job!
Thanks! It really means a lot!
Good work! Now to start saving up for the future.
Appreciate it! That’s the next step for sure!
Once the debt is gone, you’ll be surprised at how fast your savings grow. It’s a huge relief.
Wow, congrats! How long did it take and any tips?
Thanks! Took me a year, but I had to move back in with my parents to make it happen.
That’s a huge amount to save in just a year! Are you making six figures or what? Any advice?
Not necessarily. You could earn 70K and still pay off that much if you budget right. Moving in with family definitely cuts out rent and other big expenses.
Even on 70K, you wouldn’t take home 56K.
Yeah, but if you’re not paying rent, it adds up quickly .
I did something similar. Took me 18 months to clear $36K and buy out my lease. Moving back with the parents was tough but being debt-free is so worth it.
I think credit cards aren’t the real issue. It’s more about being responsible with them.
Exactly. As long as you spend within your means and pay them off, credit cards can actually help build your credit history.
Wow, that’s awesome! You might wanna keep the old cards open for your credit score. Just use them for small things now and then and pay them off right away. Great job though!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind.
Yeah, I learned the hard way when they closed one of my cards. Now I just use it for a small subscription each month and pay it off automatically.
Good idea! I rotate my cards—use them a little, pay them off, and then switch them out. Gotta stay on top of it.
You need to use about 30% of your credit limit for the best results.
