This week, how can I pay for my food?

Less than a month ago, I relocated from North Carolina to Kansas in order to leave an abusive relationship that left me hospitalized. I’ve finally found work here, but I won’t be paid for a fortnight. I have no family to rely on and have depleted my savings. I would appreciate any guidance or assistance as I attempt to recover from being fifteen hours away from my former residence.

Could you get in contact with a women’s shelter or church nearby?

Although I’m not sure about a women’s shelter, I could try a church. Thank you; I had not considered that.

Are you nearby Kansas City? There are numerous shelters for women there. if there aren’t enough food banks. People in similar circumstances are welcome there, and you will be greeted with open arms.

Search “local food banks” on Google. Consult with religious institutions. Dumpster dive a store, get a head start on the boss. DO NOT, HOWEVER, GET A PAY DAY LOAN.

I apologize, but could you please explain what a pay day loan is?

a high-interest loan given in advance against your subsequent pay day. Generally, interest exceeds 250% and can go up to 750%.

Almost every synagogue, mosque, or church in your neighborhood. What matters to them is not your denomination. They will greet you if your residence is close to their place of worship. Pay them back tenfold as soon as you’re back on your feet.

churches and food banks in the area.
I’m not sure whether this is the case in your region, but many fast food restaurants where I work pay their employees at the end of the shift. Work a few shifts, grab some fast food for lunch, and bring home a little extra bucks.

I would ask this question on your community (town/cities) subreddit. The majority of city subs are quite active and can be a fantastic source of food assistance. Please heed the advice of earlier posters and refrain from making advance or pay day loans. Another good place to start would be Google, the church, or shelters. Wishing you luck.
